Website accessibility
Standard
We build and maintain the Site to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, and we apply WCAG 2.2 Level AA criteria where they add protection. WCAG is the standard California courts and the U.S. Department of Justice look to for website accessibility.
What we have done
- Every page can be operated with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator and a "Skip to content" link.
- All images have text alternatives; decorative animation and effects are hidden from screen readers.
- Headings, landmarks, and link text are meaningful and in order.
- Text and controls meet the WCAG contrast minimums, and text can be resized to 200% without loss of content.
- The Site honors your operating-system "reduce motion" setting: animations, parallax, and autoplaying video are turned off automatically when it is on.
- A Pause motion button at the top of every page stops all moving, rotating, and autoplaying content on demand (WCAG 2.2.2).
- Our videos have no spoken audio. Where a clip conveys information, the same information is given in text next to it.
- Nothing on the Site flashes more than three times per second.
- The Site is tested with automated tools (axe-core, WCAG 2.2 AA rule set) and by hand with keyboard-only navigation and screen readers on desktop and phone. Last full check: September 16, 2026.
Known limitations
The home page uses a scroll-driven animated scene. The animation is decorative; all information in that section is also available as plain text and is reachable by keyboard. If you would rather skip it, use the "Pause motion" button, turn on "reduce motion" in your device settings, or jump straight to a section from the menu.
Technical details
The Site relies on HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and WAI-ARIA and is designed for current versions of Safari, Chrome, Firefox, and Edge with the built-in screen readers on macOS, iOS, Windows, and Android.
Store accessibility
- The store is a ground-level commercial suite. If you need help with the entrance, aisles, or reaching an enclosure or product, ask any staff member — we will bring items to you and give you as much time as you need.
- Service animals trained to do work or perform tasks for a person with a disability are welcome, as the ADA requires. Because we house live animals, we may ask that a service animal stay under its handler's control and away from open enclosures, as the ADA allows.
- We are happy to read labels, care sheets, and pricing aloud, provide written materials in large print or by email, and communicate by text or email if that works better for you.
- Our Site is our primary printed-alternative channel: hours, address, services, and contact details are all posted here in plain text.
